Just listened to the radio cumbria and 5live interviews and read the comments on social media about the picture from the weekend. A positive story which showcases the importance in the community of the club and a huge amount of respect and admiration still attached within football followers. Definitely struck a chord with myself having been a similar age when I was took to a game, precious moment recorded forever a grandfather teaching a child that football is not a television event but a real life experience to be witnessed in person. Good on the club for doing there bit too in the story, will only make us stronger in the long run

One of my first lifetime experiences watching the Reds at BP was centre forward Mike Commons score 4 goals in the early sixties against Gillingham, I was hooked for life.

I was at that game derwentred my second reds game, august 61. went with my mates from spyatry. Mike commons was a good player, i think he has the best goals scored to games played record for our time in the football league. My grandad took me to my first game in march 61 v southport. we stood behind the town end goal and charlie wright was having the crack with us and fans were throwing him sweets. mind it wasn't raining that day!
