Wow. Three goals in the last 15 minutes after conceding a penalty and three very welcome points from the trip to Mossley. Terrific result. We now head into the last game for January, undefeated in 2023. Two draws followed by two victories and our place in the play off positions consolidated further.
Reds are 3rd with 47 points from 23 games
Newcastle Town are 12th with 27 points from 12 games
Reds at home 6-3-2
Newcastle Town away 4-4-2
Recent Newcastle Town results:
14 Jan Widnes 1-3 Newcastle Town
7 Jan Newcastle Town 1-1 Hanley Town
2 Jan Kidsgrove 0-0 Newcastle Town
26 Dec Newcastle Town 1-2 Leek Town
3 Dec Newcastle Town 0-1 Reds
26 Nov Trafford 2-2 Newcastle Town
19 Nov Newcastle Town 0-2 Rams
15 Nov Newcastle Town 0-1 Colne
12 Nov Newcastle Town 1-1 Glossop NE
5 Nov City of Liverpool 1-2 Newcastle Town
Reds overall since 1 Nov 8-2-1
Newcastle overall since 1 Nov 2-4-4
Reds are now undefeated in 11 games, 10 in the league. 8 wins and 2 draws from those ten league games which by anybody's standards is terrific form. Newcastle's win at Widnes last outing was their first victory since the win at City of Liverpool on 5 November. That run also includes a loss at home to Reds on 3 December. Their away form has seen them lose only twice on the road though.
Those two loses came within 4 days of each other:
22 Oct Clitheroe 7-1 Newcastle Town
18 Oct Macclesfield 3-0 Newcastle Town.
Other top of the table fixtures today:
Runcorn (4th) v Leek Town (2nd)
Mossley (5th) v Hanley Town
Points have to be lost somewhere at Runcorn. With all teams in the play off positions having played 23 games. Reds trail Leek by 3 and have an 8 point lead over Runcorn. As such, I would suggest a Runcorn victory would be our preferred result.
Reds next fixture is a trip to Leek Town on 4 Feb.
Another three points requested please. Come on you Reds.
