On 4 Feb we were ecstatic at a 0-1 win at Leek Town. We could have been 6 points behind Leek had we lost, but we drew level with the victory. Since then, the wheels have come off at Borough Park. A draw v bottom of the league Rams, followed by our first defeat in 15 games. As such, we now trail Leek by five points. I listened to Danny's pre match interview v Rams. He mentioned the terrific win at Leek meant nothing if we didn't back it up. Well, unfortunately, we haven't backed up twice. We now find ourselves facing a tricky away trip to Runcorn followed by the visit of Macclesfield to Borough Park a week later. All good things come to an end, and all teams usually have a blip at some point. Let's hope ours is over and done with now. The positive is due to our previous good form, we have a 9 point cushion over 4th placed Runcorn.
Runcorn are 4th with 45 points from 27 games
Reds are 3rd with 54 points from 27 games
Runcorn at home 8-3-3
Reds away 9-2-2 (Only Leek have a better away record)
Recent Runcorn results:
14 Feb Runcorn 2-1 Litherland REMYCA (Liverpool CC QF)
11 Feb Runcorn 3-1 Newcastle
7 Feb Runcorn 3-0 Skem
4 Feb Colne 1-0 Runcorn
28 Jan Runcorn 0-1 Leek
14 Jan Hanley 2-2 Runcorn
10 Jan Runcorn 3-1 Winsford (Cheshire SC 2R)
7 Jan Runcorn 1-2 Mossley
2 Jan Witton 4-2 Runcorn
Runcorn overall since 1 Dec 7-2-1
Reds overall since 1 Dec 6-3-0
A home, Runcorn have lost to Leek and Mossley in January. They did beat Macclesfield back in November though. Given Reds' struggles have been against lower teams, perhaps we can get back on track at play off chasing Runcorn?
Other top of the table fixtures today:
Macclesfield (1st) v Glossop NE
Hanley v Leek (2nd)
Clitheroe (6th) v Mossley (5th)
