A week of two games. The disappointing trip to City of Liverpool followed by CC success with the 4-0 victory over Carlisle City. With 7 league games to go, a maximum return would see us get to 81 points. Macclesfield already have 76 with 6 games to go, so if we hadn't already done so, we can say cheerio to the title for another season. We are in a strong position to make the play offs however, so I guess our target will be to finish second and claim one, hopefully two, finals at home. Although, we have picked up more points away than at home this season.....dilemmas, dilemmas.
Reds are 3rd with 60 points from 31 games
Glossop are 19th with 30 points from 32 games
Reds at home 8-4-4
Glossop away 5-3-8
Recent Glossop results:
18 March Glossop 0-1 1874 Northwich
4 March Runcorn 0-0 Glossop
25 Feb Glossop 1-1 Prescot
21 Feb Colne 3-0 Glossop
18 Feb Macclesfield 2-0 Glossop
14 Feb Radcliffe 2-0 Glossop (Manchester Premier Cup SF)
11 Feb Glossop 1-2 Skem
7 Feb Hanley 1-0 Glossop
4 Feb Rams 1-4 Glossop
Reds overall since 1 Jan 11-2-3
Glossop overall since 1 Jan 2-5-7
No wins in their last 9 games for Glossop. Only two wins in 2023, the other being on 10 Jan at City of Liverpool 0-3. They occupy a relegation position and are battling against Colne, Widnes and Hanley to stay up. Reds need another 8 points to secure a play off berth, currently sitting 8 points clear of 4th placed Runcorn with a game in hand. Leek won their midweek fixture so now have a 6 point cushion over Reds.
Other top of the table fixtures:
Skem v Macclesfield (1st)
Leek (2nd) v Witton
Runcorn (4th) v Clitheroe (5th)
Another match against a lowly team.....we've been here before. Hoping we can avoid the banana skin in this one, recover from last week's disappointment, put on a good show and collect the points.
Come on you Reds
