Somebody once said a week is a long time in politics. It's certainly been a long time in the NPL. After our fabulous opening day victory, the wheels became somewhat dislodged on the two subsequent road trips. From our lofty position as league leaders after one game, we have managed to drop to 15th. However, the good news is that we have a 100% record at home, and have the opportunity to maintain that when new joint leaders Radcliffe visit Borough Park.
Having spent previous seasons in the same league as Radcliffe (albeit under their previous name Radcliffe Borough), this has not been the case over recent years. Radcliffe finished 2nd in the old NPL Division one in 2019 and subsequently won the play offs to gain promotion to the Premier League. They have remained at this level since that time.
Last season Radcliffe had their best finish in the NPL Premier, adrift of the play offs by only 2 points in 7th position.
Last season Radcliffe away record 8-9-4 Last season Reds home record 11-4-4
This season: Reds are 15th with 3 points from 3 games Radcliffe are 2nd with 9 points from 3 games
Reds at home 1-0-0 Radcliffe away 1-0-0
Radcliffe results so far: 19 Aug Radcliffe 2-0 Hyde Utd 15 Aug Radcliffe 4-2 Lancaster 12 Aug Rylands 0-4 Radcliffe
Our goal difference from 5-0 after day one, has taken a hit and is now 6-9. The fifteen goals involved in our three games so far, is the joint highest along with Ikeston so far. Hoping we can reduce the GD deficit and collect another home victory.
Come on you Reds

Lets be honest Danny is more open than any recent Manager when it comes to his thoughts, .just maybe after Ilkeston he was feeling a bit like the fans and not sure what to say to Steve D. He may possibly have been holding an inquest into the match in the Dressing Room.

I missed all the coverage but tuned it at 5pm. Danny spoke to the guy in the studio.

Radcliffe were very good, a lot better than anything we saw last year.
Physically they looked better than us, they were much more clinical and always seemed to cut off any passing options when we had the ball.
We haven't become a bad team over the summer, but we're going to have to quickly wise up to teams not giving us anywhere near as much time on the ball as we had in the division below, otherwise this season is going to be a slog.
In Danny we trust...

In Danny we trust... Agree with this. We need to pick up some points in the next 2 games to stop the rot too. I still think the score lines show us in a much worse light than we are. We need to add a couple more players but we aren't that far away. Danny hinted on the radio that a huge signing is very close, I reckon it's likely Jamie Devitt. Him plus another Centre back could be enough to get us up into the other half of the table. My biggest worry is how injury prone he is though. Tonight in spells we did well. They were always going to win but we gave them 3 goals in 20 odd minutes making it very easy for them. Some poor individual errors which just can't happen this frequent at this level. Confidence has plummeted so we need a huge performance Saturday and hopefully 3 points.

Disappointing result, but there's always positives to take from a game. The new lad from Blackpool looked powerful and lively, Hubbold, Tinnion and Symington are all good attack minded players and despite conceding four, Atkinson is a quality goalkeeper. I'm still optimistic of a decent season.

Radcliffe were the largest team i have seen, they basically walked all over us, kept putting the ball down the wings and just over powered our 2 young fullbacks in the first half, they were just too good for us i can't remember the last time we were completely outplayed. On that showing they will win the league. with, eccles, roxburgh, carroll, reilly out injured and goose, scotty and conor not fully fit we need players in quickly and not young lads on loan. The manager has tried to sign 20 players who have turned him down. my worry is that he blows the money on a guy who has been injured for most of the last 4 years.
