Wind back the clock to April 2015. Reds and FCUM were battling it out to win the NPL. Unfortunately, Reds finished two points behind FCUM. Champions with 92 points, FCUM were promoted to National League North. Reds finishing with 90 points in second, went into the play offs. 28 April 2015 and Reds hosted Ilkeston who finished 5th with 81 points. A 56th minute goal for Ilkeston saw Reds bow out of the play offs. FCUM finished their first season in National League North in 13th (of 22).
In season 18/19 FCUM finished second bottom and were relegated back to the NPL. They were in second place when the season was curtailed at 32 games. Since then they have had various mid table finishes.
So this is the first time since 2015 that both teams have been in the same league and we welcome them back to Borough Park.
Another Mighty Reds victory midweek over Lancaster City makes it four wins in the last five matches, including three league wins on the bounce.
Reds are 9th with 15 points from 9 games
FCUM are 14th with 13 points from 9 games
Reds at home 4-0-1
FCUM away 0-0-4
Recent FCUM results:
26 Sept Rylands 1-0 FCUM
23 Sept FCUM 1-1 Whitby
16 Sept FCUM 0-4 Rylands (FAC2QR)
9 Sept FCUM 2-0 Bradford PA
2 Sept FCUM 1-0 Barnoldswick Town (FAC1QR)
28 Aug Radcliffe 5-0 FCUM
26 Aug FCUM 2-1 Macclesfield
22 Aug FCUM 1-0 Ilkeston
19 Aug Stafford 3-2 FCUM
15 Aug Marine 5-1 FCUM
12 Aug FCUM 3-0 Worksop
Reds overall this season 6-0-6
FCUM overall this season 5-1-5
Reds are building a strong home record at 4-0-1, and FCUM are yet to secure their first point on the road. Only one draw for either team across 23 games.
With Reds growing in confidence in this league, maybe we can add another 3 points to the tally at fortress Borough Park? Reds currently sit only two points adrift of the play offs.
Come on you Reds
