Reds hit the road again. The 3rd league fixture in a run of five that are away from home. The fixturing schedule has been documented on another thread, but this match could be all about timing. Not for the first time this season. After struggling in the relegation zone, Basford moved out of the drop zone with their 1-1 draw at Macclesfield on Saturday. With only two victories across September and October, their last 4 matches at home have yielded 3 wins and a draw.
Basford are 18th with 13 points from 17 games Reds are 16th with 19 points from 15 games
Basford at home 3-3-2 Reds away 1-1-6
Recent Basford results: 14 Nov Macclesfield 1-1 Basford 11 Nov Bamber Bridge 5-2 Basford 4 Nov Basford 2-0 Bradford Park Ave 31 Oct Basford 1-0 Lancaster 24 Oct Matlock 2-0 Basford 21 Oct Basford 1-1 FCUM 14 Oct Marske 1-0 Basford 7 Oct Stratford Town 1-0 Basford (FAT3QR) 30 Sept Basford 3-0 Gainsborough 23 Sept Hyde Utd 1-0 Basford 16 Sept Basford 0-1 Ilkeston 9 Sept Reds 5-3 Basford 2 Sept Alvechurch 1-0 Basford (FAC1QR)
Basford overall since 1 Sept 3-2-8 Reds overall since 1 Sept 7-1-6
Basford came to Borough Park in what was Reds' 4th home fixture of the season. The 5-3 victory saw that become the 3rd Borough Park victory, and Basford's 4th consecutive loss on the road.
Reds have been sliding down the table through a lack of recent fixtures. Scoring three times at Guiseley last week you would have thought could have provided a win, but conceding four saw another away loss added to the tally. Still six points clear of the drop zone, but this run of away fixtures could see that gap closed if Reds' travel sickness does not improve.
Another of many tricky road trips this season.
Come on you Reds

A game Reds can't afford to lose or they will be sucked into the relegation fight.
Basford seem to be improving, a draw last night at Marc being evidence, so lets hope Reds have some fit and experienced players on the field on Saturday COYR

We are in trouble if we lose. Time to show some resilience at the back. I would be overjoyed with a nil nil.

A terrific result, after what seems an excellent performance.
Full marks to all involved and especially the manager, who has had a challenging few weeks trying to strengthen the squad.
Our attacking players seem to have made the step up, but there is no doubt that we have defensively struggled. Both full back positions have looked areas of weakness and our only centre halves who looked capable of playing at this level, were either injured or retired.
From that the recruitment of Wallbank, Gbadebo, Brookwell and Bunney looks outstanding work. 3 excellent young talents and an experienced head that has given us the solidity that we have lacked all season.
We can feel a lot better about our league position after today and we should be looking upwards rather than worrying about relegation.

Just had a look at the table, and it's crazy how there's only eight points between Macclesfield (in 5th, the last play off position) and Bamber Bridge in 17th. Here's hoping today puts the Reds on a good run of form over the rest of 2023 - perhaps if the new signings settle in well, we may have plenty of excitement towards the end of the season!

A good morale boosting result, against a desperately poor Basford side. In truth, once we'd reached half time in front, the second half was all about us, and we could have scored five or six. Dav was denied a hat-trick by a great save, we missed yet another penalty, and we hit the post at least twice. On the other hand they only had one attempt on target throughout the whole match, with Jim bringing off a world class save from a point blank header right at the end. Three points, three goals, and a clean sheet was just what was needed. Another huge plus was the performance of new signing Camron Gbadebo. He was the man of the match by a country mile, with his positioning, interceptions, and distribution being outstanding. He's obviously been schooled well, and getting him looks like a major coup. We'll know if we've turned a corner if we can get something at Whitby and Marine over the next ten days, but this was a decent and welcome start. I can taste the chip supper at Whitby already.

Even from that short video (and the highlights Reds posted to their YouTube channel), our new CB stands out. Really encouraging stuff.

Why are we so crap at taking penalties? Why? How many do we need saved before someone realises that you either send the keeper the wrong way or place it where the keeper can't get to it -either by pace or placement. Stop putting it fairly central about two foot off the ground with no clever sending the keeper the wrong way. It is embarrassing.

Dav's touch for the third goal is pure filth. Translation please. You could post a video of it on OnlyFans and people would pay to watch it
