Perhaps not unexpected but an ‘ouch’ moment none the less midweek at Stockton. A 5-0 defeat will have meant a long trip home. Maybe a good time for a diversion thanks to our continued involvement in the FA Trophy. The draw looked after us yet again ensuring home ground advantage. As it turns out, our opponents find themselves in difficult times. They are appealing for financial help and it is a reminder to us that despite a 5-0 flogging, the bigger picture is that we do still have a team and a financially stable club thanks to those in charge. Thank you to those people. All the best to Bridge in their efforts to stay afloat.
Onto the game itself. After conceding five goals themselves to Stockton, and at home, Bridge come into this game following a healthy victory.
Reds are 15th with 15 points from 14 games
Bridge are 13th with 18 points from 14 games
Reds at home in the league 3-3-1
Bridge away in the league 3-1-3
Recent Bridge results:
19 Oct Bridge 4-0 FCUM
15 Oct Bridge 1-5 Stockton
12 Oct Basford 3-2 Bridge
5 Oct Guiseley 0-1 Bridge (FAT3QR)
28 Sept Bridge 2-2 Mickleover
21 Sept Rylands 1-2 Bridge
17 Sept Reds 1-2 Bridge
10 Sept Bridge 4-2 Prescot
7 Sept Hebburn 5-1 Bridge
3 Sept Newton Aycliffe 1-1 Bridge (FAC1QRr) (5-3 pens)
Reds overall since 1 September 4-1-6
Bridge overall since 1 September 5-2-3
The extra 3 points that Bridge have, could be said to be as a result of their league win at Borough Park in September.
As with our FAT3QR fixture v Morpeth, the two teams involved have similar records this season and are only separated by 3 points.
I believe there will be no extra time, but with no replays, if level after 90 minutes, the match will go to penalties.
Winners receive £3000, losers receive £775
Come on you Reds
