Updated details for this rearranged match that was postponed on 15 Feb.
The Mighty Red Train rolls on. Eleven consecutive wins. With Pontefract drawing 2-2, they would now need to win all of their six games in hand to pass us. It was their first drawn match at home all season. We are still 7 points clear of the Rams who have 2 games in hand, and our goal difference is at least +14 better than anybody else.
Reds are 1st with 65 points from 29 games
Mossley are 11th with 38 points from 28 games
Reds at home 12-3-0
Mossley away 1-3-8
Recent Mossley results:
22 Feb Clitheroe 1-3 Mossley This is the only game they have played since the original match at Borough Park was postponed on 15 Feb.
8 Feb Dunston 1-1 Mossley
1 Feb Mossley 1-0 Marske
25 Jan Widnes 0-0 Mossley
18 Jan Mossley 2-0 Marine
11 Jan Mossley 2-1 Clitheroe
4 Jan Runcorn 2-1 Mossley
1 Jan Mossley 2-1 Droylsden
26 Dec Ramsbottom 7-1 Mossley
Reds overall since 1 Jan 11-1-1
Mossley overall since 1 Jan 5-2-2
Other top five matches tonight:
Markse v Pontefract Somebody has to lose points
Ramsbottom v Ossett Rams would be expected to win
Despite their mid table position, and recent lack of games, Mossley have now gone six games undefeated. A vistory for Reds will take us to 12 on the bounce as we head to Tadcaster on Saturday.
Come on you Reds
Original post:
The midweek postponement meant our scheduled back to back matches with Ossett will be on the back burner. Straight back into league action with the visit of Mossley who are one of the four teams to defeat us on our travels this season. THey in fact inflicted our first league defeat of the season with a 2-0 victory on 14 September.
Reds are 2nd with 53 points from 25 games
Mossley are 9th with 35 points from 27 hames
Reds at home 10-3-0
Mossley away 0-3-8
Recent Mossley results:
8 Feb Dunston 1-1 Mossley
1 Feb Mossley 1-0 Marske
25 Jan Widnes 0-0 Mossley
18 Jan Mossley 2-0 Marine
11 Jan Mossley 2-1 Clitheroe
4 Jan Runcorn 2-1 Mossley
1 Jan Mossley 2-1 Droylsden
26 Dec Ramsbottom 7-1 Mossley
Reds overall since 1 Jan 5-1-2
Mossley overall since 1 Jan 4-2-2
Whilst they have beaten some of the top teams at home, Mossley's away record is the second worst in the league. Only Pickering 0-1-14 have collected fewer points.
Reds have won 4 their previous 5 league fixtures.
Still trailing Rams by 2 points we still have a game in hand.
Other top five fixtures today:
Marine v Tadcaster
Marske v Trafford
Pontefract v Droylsden
Ramsbottom v Ossett
It would suggest that the top five are all firm favourites today. Here's hoping others slip up, and we collect another valuable 3 points. Come on you Reds.
