Just like the proverbial bus, after nothing for months, Reds have a second consecutive Tuesday night fixture at Borough Park. After sharing six goals with Worksop Town last week, Macclesfield provide the next opposition. Reds have become draw specialists, with the last five fixtures all ending level. Reds are only six points behind Macclesfield.
Reds are 14th with 27 points from 21 games Macclesfield are 7th with 33 points from 19 games
Reds at home 5-2-2 Macclesfield away 3-1-4
Recent Macclesfield results: 16 Dec Macclesfield 3-4 Bradford PA 9 Dec Curzon Ashton 0-2 Macclesfield (FAT3R) 25 Nov Macclesfield 5-1 Guiseley 21 Nov Macclesfield 6-0 Atherton Collieries 18 Nov Alfreton Town 2-4 Macclesfield (FAT2R) 14 Nov Macclesfield 1-1 Basford Utd 11 Nov Macclesfield 2-1 Whitby Town 4 Nov Marske Utd 0-1 Macclesfield
Reds overall since 1 Nov 2-5-1 Macclesfield overall since 1 Nov 6-1-1
Macclesfield suffered a surprise defeat on Saturday at home to relegation threatened Bradford PA, who enjoyed their first away victory of the season. Macclesfield boast the second best defence in the league having only conceded 23 goals. Rylands have conceded 19. Macclesfield and Reds have both scored 42 times in the league so far.
Reds are now undefeated in six games. Macclesfield's long undefeated run came to an end on Saturday. Can Reds take advantage? Reds are only 7 points from a play off berth, and 11 clear of relegation.
Crowds have been disappointing since football resumed at Borough Park. Hopefully more will turn up to see this clash.
Come on you Reds

Disappointing to play them midweek in December! bound to affect crowd but you'd think Robbie Savage will be there with no champions league this week

I understand your sentiment for a big crowd, but I don't think Rooneys' brother is going to swell the attendance by much.

Unfortunately a lot of west cumbrian armchair supporters will make a connection with the name but be totally unaware of perennial pain in the backsides for reds ,Drummond and Kengni. There has been some excellent opposition players this season on show and our lads have matched them all the way, just need to get the crowds they deserve. Incidentally John Rooney has had a good career at national league level abd will be a major threat tomorrow night

Thanks for your always excellent scene-setter, Peter.
At the half-way point of the season I would like to add that I think Reds have done well to retain a mid-table berth considering the step up in quality and the various misfortunes that have prevented a consistency in team selection, especially in defence.
Reds have used no less than 31 players in their 24 league/FAC/FAT games so far and a staggering total of 19 different back-four combinations have been utilised. Niall Brookwell, who I think has generally played well in the centre of defence has nevertheless had to adjust to a an unfamiliar position without the security of a regular partner. In his 10 games at centre-back he has had five different players alongside him and in total various circumstances have meant Reds have lined up with 12 different pairs of centre-backs. Unsurprising, therefore, that we have shipped so many goals.
Thankfully we have been prolific at the other end of the pitch mainly thanks to Dav who will be Macclesfield's main concern tonight. Hopefully he can continue his hot streak; 8 goals in his last 8 games and on target in each of his last four games. I was particularly amused watching his last sweet strike at Ashton on the video highlights. 'He's all right foot' came the cry on the audio, presumably from the home bench to their covering full-back (or maybe from Danny just to confuse said defender), just prior to Dav smashing the ball home with his left peg.
Personally I would prefer to see our main man out wide from where he scores most of his goals (even when starting in the middle) but I guess with the continued shortage of options up front he will continue in his more central role though I am sure opposition defenders prefer to see him there with his back to their goal rather than running at them.
All I can say regarding the attendance comments is those that stayed away last Tuesday missed an absolute cracker and the efforts that the players are putting in deserves all the support we can give them.

Crazy really, there were so many more chances combined from both sides than last tuesday and yet that game was 3-3 and this one was goalless Looked ominous first ten mins we were getting battered but we grew into it. Midfield we struggled all game but we defended really well and could have stolen all three points late on. Not a game to watch if you want tips on finishing, lost count of how many players had a chance in front of goal, leaned back and skied it Jim & Jordan Little standouts for me for what was a great point

A decent game to watch, despite being goalless. Reds rode their luck at times, but given the quality, fitness and experience of a full time opposition that was to be expected. Reds showed plenty of spirit, created a couple of decent chances themselves and gained another valuable point. Hope Tinnion isn't too badly injured.

Pleased with that performance, first clean sheet for a long time and some big performances accross the park against a very good team .Thought Brookwell, Little and Hubbold were fantastic but Atkinson's save was top drawer. Missed Riggs hold up play but overall another good point in a division where every point is a battle. As for attendance watch ,no savage, niasse out injured but the presence of Ella Toone has inspired the young lionesses of the area, never seen as many young kids at a midweek game must have put an extra 100 or so on the gate ,903 is towards where we should be aiming though, lets hope same on Saturday
